The Acorn Southeast Show took place today in St Albans for the second year running. Because of rumours surrounding the recent resignation of RISCOS Ltd's main programmers, the most important show event was probably the last theatre talk of the afternoon. The RISCOS Ltd. representative was Acting Director Andrew Rawnsley, who stressed the company's 150% commitment to future development of desktop RISC OS. In responses to questions fielded after his talk he hinted that the temporary cessation of programming work within the company was due to lack of funds, and asked people who hadn't already done so to buy RISC OS 4 and renew their Foundation membership.

The main hardware news from the show was the launch of APDL's new Turbo Processor upgrade. The service basically entails them overclocking your StrongARM CPU and sticking a fan on it to keep the temperature down. Existing StrongARM owners can have their processor "turboed" for as little as £39.

According to certain sources, the Turbo upgrade takes the RiscPC to almost the same levels of performance as the "400 Kinetic upgrade from Castle for just a tenth of the price. The Icon Bar team are currently working on providing some independant benchmarks to back up this claim.
